Fat is NOT the Enemy
So what is the deal? I walk through any grocery store and get the vibe that we are afraid of fat. Fat free cookies, cakes, ice cream, yogurt, the list goes on and on. If you actually took a moment to read the label on the "FAT FREE" ingredients you would inevitably find quite a few ingredients that are not good for you at all. It is like we have keenly been marketed to that these products actually produce health? I will talk to people about why they drink non-fat milk when there is no such thing as a non-fat cow. 9 out of 10 times they tell me they prefer the taste of non-fat milk (personally, that is a big "yuck" for me). Here is a challenge for you - try drinking whole raw milk for a week. Then go back and drink the non-fat milk you so thought you loved. Your brain will be telling you "hmm something is not quite right here".
I remember growing up drinking non-fat milk, and 2% milk was like going for a splurge, "whoa no way you are drinking 2% milk? You are really stepping out there Michelle". It is actually funny to me now that I know the truth about how we need fat from their true source, in the way it was designed by nature and our bodies will do just fine processing it, breaking it down, utilizing what it needs, and discarding what it doesn't. Your body was originally designed to burn fat for fuel. The body's preferred fuel source is the one and only thing we are frantically running away from.
So next time you feel like you have a drop in energy eat some good fat! It will give you the "real" energy you are looking for!
