Because I can...
I have had what some would call a "radically healthy lifestyle" for years. One thing I have noticed year-in and year-out is that right after Thanksgiving people mentally check out between Thanksgiving Day and New Year's. It is like all of a sudden their healthy choices fly out the window and exercising on a regular basis is put on a back burner.
All of a sudden their health that was once so important to them, now is not as important.
So this holiday I made a decision. While everyone is going out to deliberately eating junk, exercising less, and gaining 15 pounds; I have decided to lose 5 pounds and eat healthier than ever before. My choice is definitely a road less travelled during the holiday season. Buy hey, I am not like everyone else. My health is a top priority to me and I cannot afford to take a 6 week holiday from taking care of myself. It is amazing how making such a simple decision can give you positive results, focus and determination.
Here is a glimpse of my workout schedule for the week:
Monday - Spin class 60 minutes
Tuesday - interval weight training
Wednesday - Spin class 60 minutes
Thursday - Rest
Friday - high intensity interval weight training
Saturday - Spin class 60 minutes
Sunday - Rest or quiet walk
Why do I choose the way I exercise? Because I enjoy it! When you enjoy how you exercise you will look forward to your workouts and that is the whole point.
My philosophy on exercise is find what you love to do and do that regularly. For example, if you enjoy going for long walks, hiking, weight training or rock climbing, do that regularly and on occasion switch it up to keep your body guessing!
